Children Day's Celebration at Community Centre

I felt so guilty. There was Children's Day celebration in Charmaine's childcare last Friday but I totally forgotten about it as Charlotte's childcare was closed last Friday and she stayed at home with my helper. I was busy organising logistics and arranging homework for her to do. Sometimes I really felt that I only deserve grade C; just pass as a mother.

On Saturday, we joined the Children's Day celebration at the community centre right opposite my house. We only paid $5 for tickets and got to enjoy clay magnets painting, bookmark making, popcorn, candt floss, goodie bags etc. There was a wash feet session where your child is supposed to wash feet for you to show their filial piety towards you. I felt that it's weird and that filial piety shouldnt be protrayed/ perceived that way. It sounded rather religious when it comes to "washing" like baptism and Vesak Day when you bathe the Buddha etc.

Anyway... if you have a community centre near you, do visit them to check out their activities. Some activities could be really interesting and children should interact with more people at such gatherings.

Phew... she passed!

We all, including Teacher Jasmine, thought she will fail her abacus exams....

Great Way to Make Your Child Sleep

Charmaine was shaking legs watching Fifi and Max n Ruby on Nick Jr while chomping down a pack of raisins. After finishing the raisins, she threw the packaging onto the floor.

To teach her a lesson, I switched off tv and told her that she will not get to watch tv until she throw the packaging into the bin.

She refused to and I also refused to let it go. After a while.... we saw this.

Note:- raisins packaging still in the floor... s

SHE WON!

My Girl's Birthdays

Joyful or Stressful?

After the bicycle incident on Mid Autumn Festival, Charlotte seems to be afraid of the slightest things. From sparkles; the fireworks sticks to mini bomb; it looks like a tadpole and gives sparks and loud "piak" sound when thrown onto floor/ stepped onto - reliving my childhood games.

Sigh... It's good for her to learn her lessons but not to the extend of whining at the slightest stuffs and scare away all her friends/ playmates. It's really irritating man.

She really pisses me often - abacus teacher says she is always day dreaming and not doing her work. She spent 2hours doing less than 15 sums. Mind Stretcher teacher says she does her English work very slowly esp when it comes to sentence rearrangement as massive writing is involved but when it comes to Maths she faces no issues. I do not have complains from phonics teacher (Teacher Bell instill fear I felt cos... I also feel fear when I talk to her) and ballet. She must have like these classes loads. Sometimes I felt like a big failure as I really don't know how to teach her. I have used soft and hard approach but it doesn't work and I refuse to use rewards method cos I do not want it to become a habit.

Really big sighs! But whenever I am angry with one, the other little one will do things to make me smile and afterall you will find that it's all worthwhile.

That's the joy of having 2 right?

Tuesday, 4 Sept 13... Passing of 婆婆

婆婆 passed away on on Tuesday, 4 Sept 13, peacefully at the age of 94 years old. People always say passing away at such an age is a blessing but no matter what having a close one leaving you is a sad event.

We rarely meet 婆婆 as she stayed in batam with my 五叔 and most importantly she never like my mum. She is a traditional woman who likes son. Hence she was upset cos my mum as the eldest daughter-in-law, did not borne any grandson for the family. I thought it should be the sperms' fault. But traditionally women are always blamed such.

婆婆 funeral lasted 7 days and on the last day, we were devastated while her coffin was covered and we were sending her on her last journey for burial. She was buried next to 爷爷. It was raining when the burial ceremony was in progress. There was this saying... when it rains during one's burial, it meant that heaven is sad for the person's departure. I know that I am sad that she has left us. 婆婆你一路走好...

Sunday, 15 Sept 13... visting grandparents

The girls are always upset with each other as they are vying to take the lead. It's a girl's thing righ

Thursday, 19 Sept 13... 中秋节快乐

We had an enjoyable and shocked Mid Autum Festival celebration this year. Hubby and myself knocked off on time (esp me... work has been really and crazy and it still is now) to spend a little family time with children playing lanterns.

We played at the park near our house where there were many family and kids enjoying the night of gathering. Charlotte wanted badly to join a group of children playing and was hanging around for a while before getting the courage to ask 1 of them if she could join in the fun. It was actually just kids hanging around doing silly things - remembering each others name, jumping, hopping around etc. She was initially hiding at a side peeping at them. Play mates really made differences. Nowadays all of us are busy with our individual life and no one bothers to make the first step to arrange to outings anymore. Busy is only an excuse I felt. There is always time... just depending on how you find it.

Paper lanterns still seems to be "in" with kids compared to those noisy battery operated lanterns.

After all the fun with lanterns, bubbles, sparkle sticks... while walking home, Charlotte was knocked down by bicycle. Hubby and I was shocked at the very moment cos Charlotte was screaming in pain. I felt so guilty as I could not save her. I should have kicked the bicycle away. The cyclist rode away after a while after apologizing but we were still recovering from the shock as there was blood in Charlotte's mouth. After calming down, we carried Charlotte home and found out that there was a cut in her gums, left side of her face was knocked by bicycle handle and there was a big patch of blue black on her thighs and abrasions on her legs.  Phew...

I really feel like kicking the aunty off her bicycle when I see her next time. But it was partially our fault that we allow her to play with bubbles while walking home. It's a blessing to know that she is ok after consulting doctor today. Luckily Charmaine went home alittle earlier as she needs to pee urgently. After seeing what happened to Charlotte, Charmaine said, "We don't go to park. We go ah yee house play lantern".

Saturday, 14 Sept 13... Outing at Changi Beach

Hubby hates sweating hence we rarely bring kids to beaches. But to children these kind of simple outings are precious and most importantly does not hurt pockets. We went to Changi beach last Saturday and my Chars had great fun though showering them in cold water is such a pain!

She hates English...

Looks hardworking?

I am thinking if sending Charlotte to British Council will brush up and make her love English.

Maths wasn't easier when problem sums kick in and English skills will be much needed then.

Hope things will change after phonics this Saturday.

Looks the same?

Chanel replica

Found the chanel replica at daiso... color tones totally like the one I have

We come out to play when haze goes away

The kids were cooped in the house for the past few days. We home bounded them cos of the history high psi (pls stay indoors) index.

Everything went crazy when psi shoot above 200. People started to snatch masks n stockpile them while some heartless ones tried to make profit from it. Air cleaners, green beans, packets of herbal soup for lungs etc are all snatched up too.

This is the best time to see who are the selfish piece of poo out there.

With psi maintaining below 100, we continued our usual weekend activities despite the youngest feeling alittle whiny due to stomach flu.

I Can Read in Times

Was surprised to see "I Can Read" reading books in Times bookshop. Some other Times bookshop sells "Letterland" books as well... guess I did not do sufficient homework maybe
